It may be near impossible to overestimate the power of music and the power of poetry. Within the walls of three elementary schools, students and staff came together to sing songs of encouragement and songs of affirmation. We created poems recognizing our talents and our responsibilities. In short, we celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. My thanks to the students and staff of Mirror Lake Elementary in Federal Way, WA, Hazelwood Elementary of Newcastle, WA, and Centennial Elementary in Olympia, WA. |

Yesterday I had a wonderful time visiting Central Elementary in Calhoun, Louisiana. The kids were terrific, and we had a wonderful time creating and sharing poetry. The local newspaper, The News-Star, even wrote this article about my visit:
